We’re sure most of you are familiar with Pennsylvania’s summer heat. It can really make it difficult to enjoy your backyard without melting. When the owners of this lovely home in East Hempfield Township in Lancaster County reached out to us to design an outdoor living space sheltered from the blazing sun, we jumped at the chance to work with them again. Back in 2006 we created a basement bar for them, but this time they wanted to create an outdoor area where they could cook, eat, relax and even watch TV with their family and neighbors.  Our clients envisioned an updated transitional space with a clean, organic feel. They also wanted to incorporate some custom furnishings and elements to make it unique.

The covered patio has loads of customizations. To start, we built a custom outdoor dining table made of glass, tigerwood, and stainless steel.

A fiber cement alcove was designed to house the television and is flanked by tigerwood privacy walls with cool cut outs that hide LED lights and floating granite shelves to display accessories.  There is a ceiling fan for added comfort, pendant lights above the dining table and track lighting in the kitchen and living areas.

Take a step down to the new exposed aggregate concrete patio and sit by the fire pit and do a little star-gazing. We hid a continuous strip of LED lighting in the curved concrete step.

We also built two additional tigerwood privacy screens to enhance the intimate setting.
