We’re done with our remodel in Wynnewood. The family of four lived for years with a frustrating chopped-up kitchen layout, a family room with awkward steps down, and no real room for a comfortable home office or back-door entrance with storage. But look at it now!
The new kitchen is open and bright — the new windows over the sink provide views to the back yard. A new BlueStar range anchors the wall, while the island provides a big space with seating. A pantry and wine fridge round out the amenities.
The tile backsplash adds a subtle and ethereal dose of color.
Stepping down from the kitchen to the family room is easier and saferbefore — now the step runs all along the edge of the main floor opening, and even provide extra casual seating. Previously, the step was hard to see and left the rest of the ledge exposed.
New French doors create flow between the living room at the front of the house, and the kitchen and family room at the back.
On the far wall of the living room, we replaced a tattered hollow-core door with another French door, adding light to the new home office. We built in the desk, shelves above it and some tucked on the entry.
The new mudroom at the back of the home is also the family entrance. We added a closet and built-in cubbies to contain the busy family’s boots, jackets, school bags, and roller skates!
